Before october marks its end with its erratic weather patterns, I should most definitely post a few of my absolute favs of film photos which I took with a Kodak disposable camera I got off the shelves at westmall (by far the lowest price I came across at about seventeen bucks) Apart from the technicalities that differentiate analog photography from digital ones (Im no expert in this area anyway), the fact that you cannot review photos right after snapping on a film camera (delayed gratification, peepz) meant that you teeter in suspense while slowly exhausting your limited number of exposures (thirty-nine in mine) and trusting that your photos will turn out good!
In my case, most of my photos turned out less than good, in fact they were really murky, coz at one point I wanted to experiment how photos would look like if I did not use the flash OMG SO PLEASE DONT DO THAT especially in indoor settings even if you feel like there's an abundance of natural light (not so bad if you don't activate the flash when outdoors) Another thing was, it could get quite hard to frame my picture exactly as I wanted it to be (since Im only looking through the viewfinder) and I feel like what has been recorded on the film covers a slightly wider area than what I see through the viewfinder, so most of the time it's going with your instincts and trusting that your photos will turn out good ONLY AFTER you have activated the flash!!
THIS UNASSUMING LITTLE MACHINE FEEDS ON LIGHT THAT'S WHAT I WANNA SAY
These are the rare good ones that I have got after sending in my first ever film rolls for developing, and I feel like any good photos, film or not, have the ability to tell stories and I think that's what Im trying to do with my photos - I don't necessarily want pretty photos any more than the desire to create honest and organic images (maybe it's due to editorial photos overload seen in almost every influencers' Ig account which makes me want to hark back to the old and nostalgic) In any case, I got myself a second disposable camera and wanna try my hand at this whole film thing again, and if my interest doesn't fizzle out any time soon I might very well get myself a non-disposable film point-and-shoot when I've got the disposable income to purchase one, that is! Please look forward to Film Series 1.1 (:
