#SG50

I swear I intended to do this post up during the jubilee weekend, but welllll, INERTIA. In any case, it still deserved a write-up coz #SG50 (I damn <3 the twitter emoji but no more liao) and coz the last time I soak up this kinda atmosphere was prolly seven years ago. This was only the NDP rehearsal tho, on the 18th Jul (woah that's exactly a month back). Got to see The Sam Willows & JJ Lin live whereas the rest were simulations haha I think there was this time the emcee wanted the audience to welcome the education minister but everyone thought it was just another simulation SOOO no reaction from the audience for him!! Oops ~

Anyway, the whole time it was basically just sweaty and hot in the seats. Wtf we couldn't even watch the fireworks from where we were seated. And when I saw the full array of fireworks display on tv I almost wanted to roll my eyes to the back ("our money going up in smoke" LOL saw this on twitter). Okay basically the whole show was for the enjoyment of the selected few who could take in the performance in full view and/or from a near distance. Woah I felt elitism on a whole new level. And suddenly, the layout for marina floating platform seems much better as compared.

Okay I know Im ranting a lot, but I still love the fly by. There was this fighter jet (??? Idk the exact term but plane la hor) which flew damn low it was awe inducing to the point of fear inducing AND THEN we know what the gahmen wanna prove. It's that kinda moment you feel proud to be a Singaporean, those fly by those fireworks those SG50 tv adverts I saw in my Bali hotel, BUT THAT'S THE FREAKIN PROBLEM HERE were I not just ranting about the parade itself earlier on? It almost feels like a balance can never be achieved. If you want the good, then you have to accept the ugly. And sometimes, the ugly rears its head too long the good becomes elusive. So tell me, what's your Singaporean identity? No doubt we have achieved so much, but still so lacking. So proud, yet still suffering. I love you Singapore, but maybe not. 50/50 (you love that, don't you?) Told you Im a fuckin' paradox. So much like you, Singapore.

<3 Happy Birthday <3
