ARTBOX

23 APR 2017 /
sunset + fairy lights + good food + live music + old friend = perfect sunday

I think for many others, the inaugural ARTBOX experience here in our rainy little island (IT HAS BEEN RAINING FOR ONE WHOLE MONTH) had been less than satisfactory, but bless our souls, we chose to go on the last day and found the crowd manageable. Queues weren't as long as I expected and we got to try out a variety of foods while some peepz belted out tunes onstage. The fairy lights made everything even more ethereal as the sun set behind the city skyline. And I can get to experience the real thing come Friday when I scoot to bkk with adele and co. (: Cannot wait! Speaking of which, Im still in the midst of doing up my hongkong video and shall write a post on that when I come back next week yeehaw ~

Enjoy the photos (which you might have alr seen on my Ig stories and Ig post and now here oops) -

Health Reboot

Im not the type to count calories intake or spend hours on the treadmill but Im defo on my way to becoming a mindful eater which means I will have a better relationship with food in the long run. So, instead of reaching out for a packet of chips, I would now rather much pop some blueberries and grapes. I mean, it's time to think about the kind of choices we make (and I probably mean this on several levels) coz there's really no excuses not to treat yourself right. Reminder to self - eat well, drink lots of water, get lots of sleep, do your best with every workout, take care of your skin, and have fun xx

24 JUL 2016 / I'd signed up for Electric Run 5km a few years back but Xy and I were basically there to see those neon lights so I guess this is sort of my first proper run ????? There's a reason as to why I used "sort of" - coz I only managed a 3km when I was the one who decided on the 10km route hehe at least adeline and serene could run 5km without stopping. But apparently I briskwalk faster than I run, someone needs to come up with a briskwalk race or something. Anw I checked our timings online, omg nett time was 1h 43m 12s HAHA WTF. That's not the point tho - the important thing is we woke at unearthly hours for this run and completed it and it was a nice way to spend a Sunday morning and it had defo been a good run nonetheless coz I immediately zonked out in the bus on the way back home and my ass ached for the next couple of days Idk why my ass and not the legs but yes, here's to running more and running better (:

8 AUG 2016 / Have been wanting to try out Ninja Bowl for the longest of time coz seriously, good food pretty much look like that to me these days. This is their Yasai bowl ($16) consisting of salmon poke, balsamic tomatoes, mixed sultanas and an onsen egg. I added on quinoa for another $3. It's pricey I feel, but at least they didn't skimp on the salmon and that is important. Basically, their other bowls look equally enticing and their truffle fries wasn't too bad either! I've got a feeling this won't be my first and last trip there (; Next up, Grain Traders!

Switch it up

This was us at Switch last friday chilling over good food, drinks and live music. The band only started at 830pm but we reached there a good two hours earlier just so we could catch up with each other (like ever since ... xmas ?? and like we can't wait till school starts lmao). Anw it'd be hard to talk after the band plays. One of their lead singers was actually a contestant from the recent Project Superstar hahaha but it was another lead singer whose delivery of G.E.M.'s 泡沫 tt left me in awe, the jaw drop kind of awe. It was sooo good, even better than the original I dare say. We were only there for 2 sets (they were playing 4 sets that night I think), but it had been a good start to the new year.

"keyboardist, what time you end work? (;"

At lola's, food prepared w ♡

Together w adeline, my fellow food explorer, we made our way down to Lola's Cafe  a g a i n , coz the first time we were there in late June on a Sunday the cafe was too packed and we didn't care to wait. This time we reached prolly half an hour after their opening hours (effort!!!) , there was only one table left - talk about good food, they just keep people coming back for more. And that's gonna be the case for me too! Also, we definitely ordered too much for two - their truffle fries was okay, but the avocado eggs benedict & honey paprika crispy wings were yumz yumz☺ Luckily for us, we ate at the time we ate, if you know what I mean. Coz just when we were about done, it started to pour - real heavy, cold winds and all (we had the by-the-road seats). And then braving the rain sort of became a funny thing for we two still got half drenched sharing adeline's teeny weeny umbrella, but I guess it's better than being totally drenched huh. Mornings like this are, I dare say, worth getting up early for xx

F r i e s , so much fries

Chomp chomp chomp your food

A couple of nights ago Kt brought us to this Chomp Chomp Food Centre, which is supposingly famous for its hawker fares, all the way at Serangoon Gardens (have been travelling far and wide in the name of food). But no, I've never heard of Chomp Chomp prior to this trip! Anyway, I had a craving for laksa on our way there and laksa should be a common enough hawker food right, RIGHT. But they don't have it there. In fact, there weren't much choices I would say. So we ordered hokkien mee, alongside cereal coated sotongs, stingrays, and chicken wings. And left the food centre smelling like, you guess it, Chomp Chomp. I think Chomp Chomp sounds so upbeat - I like the name (:

We then walked over to this desserts house (I've forgotten the name) where it smells like durian even before we climbed the stairs to reach it. Had the nicest durian mousse though, it just makes me wonder why haven't I try anything like that before.

And now, let me go back to craving for my laksa.

Chock Full Of Beans, Changi Village

Spaghetti with Wild Mushrooms & Truffle Oil / $19

Smoked Salmon Sandwich / $13

Iced Mocha / $6.50

So for the first time in months Adeline and I set off once again in search of good food (at last something apart from exercise). And this trip saw us travelling from the west to the east of this tiny island JUST SO we could take in this 3D foam art of a kitty in all its glory. Anyway, the weekend crowd's crazy but come to think of it, we didn't actually have to wait that long. Spaghetti with wild mushrooms and truffle oil for myself & smoked salmon sandwich for her - the food's really good but unless someone's driving or if I can tank another four hours journey (to and fro), then probably I would make my way back again. Cannot wait for more food trips w this girl. The two of us seriously live to eat ^^v

xx
